Real-Time is realLy overused

When other parking systems talk about real-time they usually mean "once or twice a day."  When MPS talks about real-time with our physically secure, hardwired network and power we mean within seconds and enterprise quality always available 24x7.  In a formerly low-tech industry like parking the term real-time is used with any device, or kiosk that can communicate remotely.  Send information to, or query a device and receive an answer in minutes, that's sadly been passed off as real-time.  Heads up watch out for your monthly communications bill when you actually try to use it.  The Sentry Parking System was designed and built from the ground up with the main components of low latency, sub-second response, real-time systems.  First you must have stable and available power and network. The Sentry Parking System has both with hardwired power, (no more trees or buildings blocking your tiny solar panel, no more climbing through snow banks to yet again replace a battery pack) with a physically secure hardwired network connection providing security, deterministic bandwidth and latency, and best yet, deterministic cost.  Another crucial component is a high performance processing environment that has the ability to respond to queries immediately, ingest new rate structures, new messaging, configurations changes, code updates, immediately produce alerts when something occurs.  Make changes as often as you desire.  This type of power provides virtually unlimited room for further growth of new and interesting ways to communicate to and from your remote devices.

Immediate credit card authorization

Many of our competitors "batch" their credit card transactions to minimize power draw that occurs with network transmissions.  This results in loss of revenue for the municipality due to fraudulent and/or declined cards.  The Sentry Parking System immediately authorizes all transactions in real-time ensuring clear communications with the parker and minimizing lost revenue.

Heat Maps

You have the ability to monitor and quickly respond to activity in your city happening right now.

Check your occupancy heat map to see where the activity is right now.

Coin and Meter Status alerts

When your entire system is a real-time interconnected network, events that happen on the street are brought to the attention of the proper individuals immediately.  Your coin collectors receive automatic alerts as the coin jars begin to progressively get more full.  Should a meter be impacted by a car, or should someone begin tampering with a meter, this is conveyed as a real-time alert.

Data is constantly being updated allowing you to keep an eye on your coin jars.  Set up tomorrows collection route, or dispatch personal to clean our jars that went full unexpectantly.

occupancy maps

Everybody wants to know, where are the free spaces NOW.  The Sentry Parking System knows the answer providing visual data, API access to the real-time occupancy data, and via our Sentry consumer app.  Want to know what's the detailed session status on particular spots, click and the popup lets you know.

System Health

The Sentry Parking System was designed from the floor up to be monitored and maintained in a fashion more associated with enterprise computing than parking.  All devices constantly reporting home on their health via SNMP across our physically secure, always available network connections.  To provide low/no maintenance MPS is constantly monitoring in our Network Operations Center.  Alerts can also be routed to individual SMS and/or email accounts.

Parker Assistance

Only a system that is "plumbed in" to your overall municipality network can provide such features as parker assistance via teleconference, 311 or E-911 calling.  Think of every meter as a blue light safety kiosk.

network management

The MPS Customer Service staff handles all aspects of network monitoring, preventative maintenance, and break-fix maintenance on the Sentry Meters and the MPS-installed network.
