Wilkes-Barre mayor: SafetyStick parking enforcement successful, expanding

The City of Wilkes-Barre, PA, has seen significant success with the SafetyStick® devices from Municipal Parking Services (MPS) in enforcing parking regulations. Initiated over a year ago, the city installed 10 SafetySticks to monitor and address illegal parking in key areas.

"It’s been very successful, and that's why we're going to be adding more.”

- Mayor George Brown, city of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

These solar-powered devices use advanced camera and radar technology to capture and transmit images of violations, leading to citations. As of now, 42 SafetySticks are operational, with plans to add 20 more in the coming months due to the program's effectiveness. The SafetyStick initiative has led to over 9,800 citations and generated substantial revenue for the city, proving to be a valuable tool for enhancing public safety and parking compliance.
